Fred Bongusto, pseudonym of Alfredo Antonio Carlo Buongusto, born in Campobasso on 6 April 1935, was a celebrated Italian singer-songwriter, record producer and composer. Characterised by a warm and suave vocal tone, he established himself between the 1960s and 1970s as one of the leading exponents of Italian intimate music, leaving an indelible mark with memorable successes such as "Una rotonda sul mare", "Spaghetti a Detroit", "Frida", "Doce doce", "Amore fermati", "Balliamo", "Tre settimane da raccontare" and "Malaga".

Alongside his recording activity, Bongusto expressed his talent in the world of cinema. From the end of the 1960s he was indeed an appreciated and sought-after composer of film scores, particularly for Italian comedy, an engagement that earned him twice the prestigious Silver Ribbon award. During his long career he also forged important collaborations with figures of international standing such as Chet Baker, Don Costa, Toquinho, Vinicius de Moraes and Antonio Carlos Jobim.
