About the project
Dove Riposano ("Where They Rest") is an atlas of remembrance: it gathers, with care and respect, the resting places of the great names of culture — writers, directors, musicians, artists, scientists, athletes. It currently holds 3897 entries, and grows every week.
Each entry answers a simple question: where do they rest? Alongside the answer, a short biography, the story of the farewell and — when the place can be visited — how to reach it. It is not a registry: it is an invitation to remember.
Method and sources
Information is verified against public, citable sources — first of all Wikipedia and Wikidata, whose identifiers are listed at the bottom of each entry. Photographs come from Wikimedia Commons or other freely-licensed collections, always with author and licence attribution. Where a fact cannot be verified, the entry says so or leaves it out: we prefer an empty field to an invention.
Corrections and additions are welcome: remembrance is a collective work.
Curator
The project is conceived and curated by Antonio Pitocco. Entries follow an editorial protocol that favours accuracy over quantity: every published resting place is checked against documentary sources.
